La Fenice theater, 2010 calendar
Following in the footsteps of the Phoenix, the mythological firebird able to resurrect itself from its ashes, the Venice La Fenice Theater died and was reborn anew, destroyed by fire and rebuilt twice, once in December 1836 and the last time in January 1996. On both occasions, the reconstruction did not alter the Neoclassic aspect of Gian Antonio Selva's late Eighteenth century initial design.
To celebrate its return to the world stage, since 2004, the La Fenice Theater has hosted the annual New Year's concert, the European event traditionally hosted by the Vienna Musikverein until that time.
The New Year's concert is the prelude to the year's top notch and exciting opera and classical music season.
